Chandler earned his Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management from West Virginia University. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor at Appalachian School of Law in 2009. Chandler initially played college baseball at Pikeville College under Hall of Fame MLB player Johnnie Lemaster.

Chandler is a native of Williamson, West Virginia but currently resides in Winchester, Kentucky with his wife Angie, share three sons, Miles, Ryan, and Brooks, and a daughter, Layne.
